12 Things I Buy At Dollar Tree To Save Money
How much do you love Dollar Tree? Isn’t there some great stuff there?! When I first started going to Dollar Tree it was to look for things to help with DIY crafts. I have since found that I can shop for a lot of things at the Dollar Tree to save money.
Don’t get me wrong, there is a lot of junk there that is not worth even a dollar, but there is a ton of really good deals there as well.
If you are looking to save some money, but don’t know what items you can trust at the Dollar Tree… here are the 12 items I continually buy to save money.
These 12 items are the best Dollar Tree deals I have found after shopping there regularly, for a few years now.

#1 Shaving cream
The shaving cream at Dollar Tree gets the job done but I do have to admit it’s not the most luxurious. However, I sometimes go without shaving cream so a dollar shaving cream is a luxury to me.
You can buy Colgate and other name brand toothbrushes at Dollar Tree. This is by far the best deal you will find on toothbrushes.
They even have cute character ones for your kids. These would be $5 at another store.
#3 All Things Wrapping
Wrapping paper, gift bags, tissue paper, greeting cards, and tape. All of these can be found at Dollar Tree and you can’t find a better deal anywhere else.
You can find gift bags at Walmart for less than a dollar but they are much smaller and are plain. The Dollar Tree gift bags have cute designs and are a good size.
You can’t beat their Christmas gift wrapping either. You won’t find that really think wrapping paper at Dollar Tree but it is the same quality as the cheaper wrapping paper in other stores. They have a large variety and even have popular characters for kids gifts.
The bags, boxes, and bins you can get at Christmas time are amazing as well.
In addition to all the wrapping items, you can get greeting cards, two for a dollar. They even carry Hallmark.
#4 Small Kids Toys
If you are looking for toys to do projects with or make sensory bins with, Dollar Tree is the best place to go. My daughter has a small dinosaur that she got from Dollar Tree that is her all-time favorite toy. She named it Little Foot and carries it everywhere. He’s been on some pretty crazy adventures and is still in pretty great shape.
#5 Kids Crafts
Along with toys, you can get some great crafts at Dollar Tree. They have playdough, paints, stickers, markers, crayons, paper, buttons, and a bunch of other bits and pieces that you can use to make fun crafts and activities.
They often have fun things for kids to do that go with the different seasons and Holidays as well.
#6 Halloween Costumes
For the past two years, I have bought my daughters Halloween costume at Dollar Tree. They are pretty generic so you won’t be able to do it every year, but they are super cute, especially for toddlers. The first year she was a witch and the second, a ladybug. Each year I spent $3 and then she wore black clothes that she already had.
In the past few years, I’ve seen costumes such as a ladybug, bumble bee, fairy, witch, chef, superhero, ninja, and a few others.
#7 Small Decor Pieces
Dollar Tree does come out with some cute decor pieces, they are on the smaller side and they go pretty quickly. However, I like to put together my own decor pieces from a variety of items you can get at the Dollar Tree.

I’m not very fashion forward so grabbing a plain pair of black sunglasses for only a buck is right up my alley. If you like to have a trendy pair, I would recommend grabbing a pair of Dollar Tree sunglasses as the extra pair that you always leave in your car.
I generally stay away from the food, but they do have great snacks there. Our favorite is the Frosted Animal Cookies.
#10 Scrub Brush
You guys know that my all time favorite scrub brush is the OXO Soap Dispensing Brush. I use this in multiple places in my house and it is awesome! BUT when I’m in a pinch or need a brush for a different reason I grab one from Dollar Tree. They have a variety of sizes. Plus, you can easily clean them in the dishwasher.
#11 Microfiber Cloths
You get a two pack for… a dollar… because everything is a dollar. 🙂
They aren’t as good as the ones you can get from Amazon or your local store, but I still think they are great for dusting and other clean up jobs. I use them often.
#12 Simple Kitchen Utensils
They actually have a large variety of cooking utensils and kitchenware. They have mugs and plates that would be a great buy, but I myself have never bought those.
Wait… I do have a couple white ceramic pieces. They have held up just fine.
I wouldn’t trust a lot of the utensils because they may not last long but they do sell Betty Crooker utensil and those are pretty nice. If you a need a new spatula and aren’t picky I’d say Dollar Tree is the way to go.
Shopping At Dollar Tree
If you are looking for ways to save some money, I definitely recommend Dollar Tree. Go sometime when you can look through the whole store and really learn where things are. They come out with new things all of the time and the good stuff goes fast.
Keep in mind that it is possible to waste money there even though everything is only a dollar. Stay away from the mindset that you can get whatever you want because it’s only a buck. If you think that way then pretty soon you’ll have a house full of cheap clutter.
