Best Budget Friendly Vacuum For Pet Hair
Budget Friendly Vacuum For Dog Hair
The best budget friendly vacuum for pet hair is the Shark Navigator. I tell this to everyone who needs a new vacuum and doesn’t want to shell out 500 bucks on what is supposedly the best vacuums around. I will tell you exactly why the Shark Navigator is the best budget friendly vacuum for pet hair in just a few minutes. First, let me give you a little background story on my vacuuming habits.
I Needed The Best Vacuum For Pet Hair
I vacuum every day. I’m not joking… every day! It’s part of my cleaning routine. I have two large dogs, Thor and Leia. Thor who is the best dog to ever live (sorry Leia) sheds all year round. He is the wonderful mix of many breeds, breeds that shed… a lot. I’m mean seriously… A LOT!
Vacuuming every day is key to keeping your house clean when you have dogs. We let the dogs on the couch, which I sometimes regret, but there is no going back now. This means that when I wake up in the morning there is hair all over the couch and I don’t like sitting on that. I also don’t enjoy tumbleweeds of dog hair whirling about the house.
This is why I vacuum every day.

The Best Vacuum For Pet Hair and Hardwood Floors
Did I mention I have wood floors? My whole house consists of wood floors, tile, and area rugs.
When we got our first puppy, Thor, I desperately needed to upgrade our vacuum so that I wasn’t sweeping up dog hair with the broom every day. My 60 dollar Walmart vacuum wasn’t cutting it. I so desperately wanted to buy a Dyson. You always hear about how awesome they are, but my frugal minded self could not imagine shelling out that much cash for a vacuum.
Research Research Research
This is when I started doing research. I had a list of requirements that this vacuum needed to meet.
- Would sweep up dog hair from the wood floors (not just push it around)
- Would quickly sweep up dog hair off of the sofa
- Could get dog hair and dirt out of the shag rug in the living room
- Was budget friendly
I honestly spent days researching what vacuum to get. I read reviews on every brand, with a cord, without a cord, with a bag, bagless. Reviews on vacuums from 50 dollars to 800 dollars. I read reviews on every retail website possible. I read reviews until my brain hurt and my vision went foggy.
Reviews Gave Me The Answer
Over and over again I would come across the Shark Navigator. I read reviews online that said this thing was as good as their Dyson! That it’s suction matched that of their other top dollar vacuums.
Did you know having two vacuums is a thing? (Okay, so I have a robot vacuum too. *insert shoulder shrug emoji*) My point is that I read multi reviews where people stated that they had two vacuums. They needed one for each floor of their house. On the main floor they had a Dyson and on the other, they have the Shark Navigator. They were saying that they thought the Shark was just as good, if not better than the Dyson!
What?!
This was the vacuum I needed to buy.
I personally cannot compare this vacuum to a Dyson. I can tell you why the Shark Navigator is the best budget friendly vacuum for pet hair, based on my experience.
Vacuum is Sturdy and Helps with Allergies
I have used this vacuum nearly every day for almost 5 years. It is still going strong. I have replaced the hose once. That was after 4 years of using the hose and attachment to vacuum the couch, every day. It was very easy to find the attachment and order it from Amazon. This is the only thing that has needed to be fixed or replaced in the 5 years I have owned it.
The Shark Navigator has Anti-Allergen complete seal technology and a HEPA filter.
Shark Navigator Pet Attachment Is Great For Furniture
The attachment that I use to vacuum the couch is specifically meant for pet hair. This thing works amazingly. It gets up every stubborn hair and piece of dirt from all sorts of fabric. I vacuum our soft leather couch, our small rugs, and sometimes the comforter on our bed. It also does a great job vacuuming out my car.
There is also a brush attachment that works great for air vents, ceiling fans, blinds, etc.
Shark Pet Vacuum Works Great On Hardwood Floors
You know when the light hits your hardwood floors a certain way and you can see every speck of dust and hair? When I use the Shark Navigator it can easily pick up that dust and dog hair when it is on the hard floor setting. It’s so crazy that it works so well.
Now on occasion, I do sweep or use a dust mop. With hard floors, it is very challenging to get up every single speck with this vacuum. However, I do this very rarely. This mostly helps with cleaning under furniture and other hard to reach spaces.
Easy To Clean
The Shark Navigator is a canister vacuum. This makes it very easy to clean. Whenever it gets too full with dog hair, I just push one button to unsnap the canister. Then I can easily dump its contents in the trash.
Because of the amount of dirt and dog hair I am picking up, I do, on occasion, have to clean the canister and filter. This is very simple. I rinse out the canister in the sink and let it dry. I do the same thing with the sponge filter. This is super easy to rinse out. Then I set it out to dry for 24 hours.
Best Budget Friendly Vacuum For Pet Hair
I can’t rave about this vacuum enough. It is hands down the best budget-friendly vacuum for pet hair. If I ever have to buy another vacuum, I have no doubt that it will be a Shark.
If you have any questions about this vacuum please feel free to leave a comment. I would be more than happy to help you determine if this is the best vacuum for you.
